lifeworks_teamLifeWorks Youth & Family Alliance provides a safety net of support to more than 10,000 individuals every year. Realizing that every youth and every family is unique in their goals, talents and challenges, LifeWorks has developed a broad continuum of supportive services across the areas of Counseling, Housing, Education/Workforce and Youth Development. Clients may access one service, or they may enroll in multiple programs. Whether your goal is to go to college, heal from an abusive relationship, or develop your skills as a parent, service at LifeWorks begins by identifying strengths and ambitions. Large goals are broken down into smaller ones so that youth and families continually experience tangible progress towards concrete objectives and fulfillment of their potential.

We support youth and families in their strong determination to achieve self-sufficiency and make generational change. LifeWorks has identified four basic cornerstones necessary to this scale of success - Counseling, Housing, Education/Workforce, and Youth Development. We have developed a full continuum of services within each. There is no “one size fits all” at LifeWorks. Every family has different needs and different goals. Youth, individuals and families may use any combination of services below to move their lives forward.

We believe that everyone deserves at least one person who is fiercely and unconditionally devoted to his/her success.

LifeWorks clients are youth and families who are experiencing significant barriers to education, workforce and healthy relationships. Often, the gravest issue they face is a history of abuse, neglect and/or on-going family conflict. These issues can be exacerbated by poverty and lack of education and workforce opportunities which can lead to generational cycles.

At LifeWorks, we believe that everyone possesses the skills needed to lead a successful life. Our “strengths-based” service philosophy builds on the unique skills and resources of each individual and family to help them reach their goals and achieve long-term success.

Our positive approach may sometimes be in stark contrast with what our clients have experienced in the past.

For example:

• A struggling youth may have his/her first conversation about college through LifeWorks.

• A youth who has been in 25 foster homes will be recognized for his/her courage and resilience.

• A single mother who has survived domestic violence will be celebrated for her protection of her children.

• A parent struggling with illiteracy is acknowledged for their commitment to improving their economic prospects.

LifeWorks is committed to quality, transparency and accountability in everything we do.

Using a results accountability model, LifeWorks Youth & Family Alliance programs look at their efforts and methodology to measure the impact and effectiveness of services.

Some examples of our results include:

• 89% of youth in LifeWorks Youth & Family Alliance Emergency Shelter move to stable housing.

• 80% of youth served in Foster Care Transitional Services are enrolled in school and/or employed.

• 87% of Counseling clients report improvement at 3-month follow-up.

LifeWorks Youth & Family Alliance is one of the few local non-profits to receive national accreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA). The accreditation process ensures that all levels of the organization--including program services, administrative, governance, and fundraising functions--are held to the highest standards of quality and best practice. Donate-Help a Youth in Crisis

LifeWorks Youth & Family Alliance, and the 10,000 youth and families we serve each year, depend on generous participation and support from community members in order to carry out our mission.

Your donation of time, in-kind resources, or financial gifts has a significant impact on the lives of those needing a safe place to sleep, a nutritious meal, life skills, parenting skills, GED classes, crisis counseling and many other critical services offered by LifeWorks.

Every dollar you invest in LifeWorks stays in the Austin community and $.80 of each dollar goes directly to programs to help us change lives.

$25 provides a backpack for a homeless youth living on the streets

$50 supplies diapers and formula for a young mom’s baby

$100 allows a youth to take the GED test and move toward higher education

$250 underwrites classroom materials for adults struggling with literacy issues

$1000 affords the comprehensive mental health, education and support services needed to transition an abused youth from crisis to safety and success.
