Our History

8 years ago a group of local individuals decided to create a car and motorcycle show in Driftwood/Dripping Springs to support needy boys at a local residential treatment facility. The Burke Rally was been a tremendous success over its 6 year history raising a significant amount of support both financially and through personal involvement with the boys.

As the Rally and the community grew, it became apparent that the needs of children in the community were growing as well. Many children need financial support in order to participate in extra-curricular activities, improve their education opportunities, have access to healthy food and good nutrition, and in some cases, proper clothing and sufficient healthcare. This ever-growing need weighed on the founders and prompted a discussion concerning the role and mission of the Rally.

After much discussion, review and prayer, the founders decided that the best course of action was to make the following changes to the mission and role of the Rally.

First, more adequately describe the expanded role. Thus, the name of the Rally would be changed from the Burke Rally to
The Hill Country Kids Rally.

Secondly, the beneficiaries of the Rally’s proceeds would be expanded beyond the boys residing at the Burke Center to include other local children’s programs and activities in which the majority of donations go directly to the children’s activities they define in their Bylaws.

This year’s rally funds will benefit The Burke Center for Youth, Dripping Springs Youth Activity Fund, Dripping Springs Tiger Totes & this year we are adding Amber's Angels to our list of recipients. Other children’s programs may be considered as appropriate needs are identified.

Burke Center for Youth

The Burke Center for Youth is a non-profit organization formed in 1973 to care for Texas children who are removed from their home environments due to abuse, neglect, or problems with the law. We are providing help and hope to children in crisis through our services. These are the children that belong to no one, and yet, they belong to us all.

Dripping Springs Tiger Totes

In March 2012, the staff and parents of Walnut Springs Elementary School started a program to send food home each weekend in a backpack with 25 students. These students had been identified by the staff as needing assistance beyond the food services provided by the cafeteria. Each weekend our backpacks are sent home with two breakfast items, two lunch items, and two snacks. If a family has multiple children, then each child receives a backpack. In September 2013, when school resumed, our program expanded to include 50 students. The number of students and families we serve continues to grow, currently we serve 58 students in 28 families, including 8 siblings at our middle and high school.

Dripping Springs Youth Activity Fund

Dripping Springs Youth Activity Fund (D.S.Y.A.F.) is a community outreach program benefiting children. Our mission is to provide financial assistance for extracurricular activities in academics, sports, and the arts to children who reside within the Dripping Springs School District. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to play sports, be a part of a team, learn music, or explore their artistic talents.

Red Arena

RED Arena currently serves children and adults in physical, occupational or speech therapy sessions while on the horse as well as therapeutic riding lessons with PATH Certified Instructors. The dynamic motion of the horse is not only an extremely effective tool to improve strength, balance, coordination, communication, confidence; it is an incredibly empowering activity for the rider who deal daily with physical, mental or medical challenges.

The Hill Country Rally for Kids is a 501(c)3 charity.
