The Lake Travis Thrift Shop is a non profit fundraiser of Ladies of Charity Lake Travis. Ladies of Charity Lake Travis uses profits to support area charities that support people in life struggles. Among the charities are Lake Travis Crisis Ministries, Spicewood Helping Hands, Saint Vincent de Paul, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, Saint Louise House, Green Santa and others.

The Ladies of Charity-Lake Travis was founded in March of 1991 by Anita Fisher at the encouragement of Monsignor Richard McCabe. The Ladies opened the Lake Travis Thrift Shop on July 8, 1991, using the proceeds to fund the Crisis Closet, which is now know as Lake Travis Crisis Ministries. Due to the generosity of the Lake Travis community, the shop is very successful, and the Ladies are able to donate over $250,000 each year to organizations which share our mission to serve the poor.

Ladies of Charity History

The Ladies of Charity were founded by St. Vincent de Paul, patron of all charities, to respond to the needs of the poor in 17th century France.  Together with St. Louise de Marillac, these women went quietly about their tasks, seeking no recognition, satisfied with the knowledge that they were serving Christ in the person of the poor.

AIC — International Association of Charities — is the official name for the Ladies of Charity worldwide.  The Ladies of Charity USA  (LCUSA), since their origin 150 years ago, have sought to possess the charisms of their founders through daily prayer and service to the poor.  That same Vincentian Spirit characterizes the Association today.  It asks the personal gifts of self, time, devotion, sacrifices and perseverance in the effort to bring dignity to each person and to respond with compassion to human misery.
