Local Teams, Mpacting Dreams
Caritas helps low-income families with emergency basic needs such as food, rent and utilities. Caritas also helps client families learn the skills to become self-reliant.
Caritas was founded in 1964 and is an integral part of our community’s social services network.
Caritas will serve 20,000 adults and children as Travis County’s largest source of non-governmental assistance for low-income families. Caritas serves the working poor, the unemployed, the homeless, near-homeless and documented refugees.
BASIC NEEDS SERVICES: Include emergency rent and utility assistance for families in financial crisis such as job loss or reduced working hours, hot meals in the soup kitchen, take-home groceries from the food pantry and resettlement support services for documented political refugees.
SELF-SUFFICIENCY SERVICES: build the skills needed to move toward self-reliance through education classes such as budgeting, money management, energy conservation, ESL and job readiness and placement.
Volunteer
Volunteers help Caritas of Austin achieve our mission through over 30,000 hours of service donated each year. Whether it’s by serving in our community kitchen, helping clients directly, you are making a difference in the lives of the clients we serve.
