Operation Supply Drop assembles care packages for veterans around the world!
Founded in 2010, Operation Supply Drop brings Veterans and Civilian Supporters together. We assemble care packages which we send to veterans deployed as well as to those in hospitals or to military installations across the world along with supporting events like homecomings, family days, Christmas parties and deployment ceremonies. This is not just US veterans, it is our allies as well. Care packages are littered with amazing games, products, apparel and many other items that truly do “Bring Fun Where There is None”. If you have ever been away from a friend or family and received a letter from them, that is the feeling a Supply Drop brings to veterans. This program serves to boost morale for those serving as well as their families. It’s also the entry point for many into the Operation Supply Drop Community.
While there are many amazing military charities and social clubs around the world, we felt no one organization was serving the social needs of this current generation of veterans. With the help of many of our veteran volunteers, The Teams was born. Gaming and all things geek is as pervasive within the military community as it is within the general population, possibly even more so with the current generation of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
The goal of the Teams Program is to build local groups of military, veterans, and civilians in order to promote a welcoming community where these groups of individuals can relax, have fun, and be accepted. The agreed key to success is keeping the military to civilian ratio at 50/50 from the top down with Team co-leaders, one veteran and one civilian.
The Teams uses gaming as a catalyst and common ground to forge lasting friendships between veterans and civilians. Teams are set up in cities and communities around the country and operate independently of one another. Each Team has at least one in-person event every month, known as Mandatory Fun. These events provide often insular veterans and service-members a way to branch out and meet new people. OSD civilians are able to mingle with veterans and see the military side of important issues. Mandatory Fun also allows our civilian volunteers and donors a chance to see the people that their donations directly benefit, all in a fun and worry-free setting. Past Mandatory Fun activities have included paint-balling, attending sporting events, board game nights, or simply meeting up for a cup of coffee and conversation. Events are family friendly and offer fun and relaxation for all ages and most events are low cost thanks to our community partners.
When not out having Mandatory Fun or sitting behind a keyboard, The Teams are sometimes mobilized to act as volunteers at conventions and expos where Operation Supply Drop has a presence. This affords Teams members an opportunity to help Operation Supply Drop further it’s international mission by acting as boots on the ground at local events. Each Team also has their own 8-Bit Salute page in support of the yearly OSD fundraising campaign.

With your help, The Teams program will touch the hearts and minds of countless veterans, service-members, and civilians to forge lasting friendships for years to come.
Sends veterans to various events across the world with a civilian counterparts. An example is the Thank You Deployment we recently had in Sonoma, California where some Veteran and a Chapter Team member civilian got an opportunity to see racing first hand and were treated as VIP’s. This is an opportunity for both to learn each other’s story while enjoying some well deserved fun. We structure these to create a shared experience which develops a relationship lasting beyond the event and into the growth of The Teams program.
Locally based chapters of Veterans and Civilian Supporters, working together to directly address lowering veteran suicide, depression, homelessness, and unemployment. In person Chapters of The Teams across the world come together during their monthly “Mandatory Fun” social events. These events range from gaming, bowling, movies, baseball games, volunteering in their community and the list goes on. One of the toughest things for veterans is being socially connected with those outside of the military. Operation Supply Drop is devoted to bridging that gap and bringing military veterans/civilians together. The Teams help create a stable environment, create networking opportunities, and finally create a support mechanism for veterans/civilians in times of need. This has already been proven to be a vital program and we look forward to it’s continued growth.
We take pride that 88% of all the donations that come into Operation Supply Drop are used to support veterans around the world. Click the links below to learn more about how we use your donations and what Operation Supply Drop is all about!
